School Partnership:
Green Moves in our Neighborhood is a classroom/curriculum supportive project for History, Science and Nutrition classes that examines the history and culture of food amongst African-Americans, Native Americans and selected other immigrant populations of North America relevant to Pittsburgh in the present and historically.
A hands-on project where selected youth will study food systems through their class curriculums and put the lessons into action through the construction of a greenhouse, starting the cultural food plant populations and understanding the nutritional value of native peoples food choices. Current partners include, Fort Pitt Elementary Public School, The Urban League Charter School and The Neighborhood Academy High School. |
